Poetry by Kelly Beller

So Cosmopolitan

Easterly, a camper creeps across the iron bridge
the sun is high, the shadows short
the green canal ripples below,
ducks float, gulls squat, pigeons wheel, people amble
the further trees, a splotched green backdrop
nearer trees flame for fall.
Closer, groups dine on the shaded balcony
conversations murmur between the tables
spiced by icy tinkles
punctuated by harsh bird cries
I, aloof at Aladdins.
